Here are some doodles from the past few days as we've been working through some ideas. Hit the Back button after viewing an image.
A rough sketch sheet ... trying out some various ideas, inspired by previous 'bots, both our's and those of other builders. We weren't sure which ideas would be workable, but the ones with the check marks are the ones we're going to start building.
Attempting a fairyweight design ... given how small and light both brushless motors and batteries have become, it's possible to packs quite a punch into a 150g 'bot nowadays. May as well maximize it with a nice, big weapon :-)
We've always wanted to build a shell-spinner, we're going to start small, with this antweight design. Not sure if the mounting configuration in the top-left makes sense, but then again this is just a doodle ...
This one didn't get much detail, but you can see it's a 12lb drum-bot. For some reason we kept thinking Lexan, but that probably won't hold up very well, so we'll probably end up using aluminium for most of this 'bot.
For some reason this one seems like an awful lot of fun ... ultra-slimline drive chassis, and a very large swinging bar ... think Greewave but without the self-annihilation :-) Since sketching this 'bot we've upped our thnking from a two-foot bar to a four-foot bar ... we're going to make this one for Motorama 2011.
