Just a quick note - couldn't sleep, so we tested a couple of receivers. Sure enough, with the transmitter four feet away from the receiver, and holding the toggle longer, we were able to get the receivers to bind with the transmitter, so the receivers we thought were bad are okay - operator error!
16 New Hyundai 18V drills, snagged from eBay for $126 inluding shipping.
12 are earmarked for CyberScorpion 0.9
, and three may go in Formidable Fustigator 2.0
, so yes - we can definitely put these to good use! [More]
The last version of Formidable Fustigator
had a huge
design flaw: At pretty much exactly the same time the blade hit the opponent, the opponent was perfectly lined up to hit a wheel, and being polycarbonate it shattered. The two goals in this re-design were ... [More]
Hmm ... after re-reading the manual for the Spektrum DX6i, it says the receiver may fail to bind if the transmitter is too close to the receiver ... we'll give those receivers another go tomorrow evening then!
The last version of Poor Punctuation
had a pretty major flaw - well - two flaws really: (1) It was pretty ineffective in the weapon category; and (2) it wasn't invertible, and flipped over frequently. With those issues in mind, we set about redesigning the antweight. [More]
Today we decided to dust off an old 'bot and see whether - after eight years - we could actually finish it the way it was designed. We've had the carcass of Unlettered Understrapper 2.0
sitting around since the end of 2003, and it even went to an event but the weapon has never been fired up. We want to at least see it run. [More]

Team Radicus has a NEW 'bot: Steel Stiletto; and a new driver to go with it. Top Gear has The Stig, but Team Radicus has The SGGS! [More]
Having spent a bit of time contemplating the Sportsman idea, we need to spend a serious amount of time with Rhino3D to see if the design in our heads has even the slightest chance of being build-able. [More]
As we continue to unpack from the last Motorama, we're checking out the remains of the 'bots we took, and looking to see what's salvageable and what needs to be reworked. Tonight it's the turn of the beetleweight we took: Didactic Duelist 1.0
So, we've been debating building a walker for the Sportsman Class at Motorama for the last couple of years. Actually, we've dreamed of building a walker since roughly 2001, but better late than never! [More]
